Programmable access control barrier with integrated Muting functions
The new Safegate Type 4 range of access control barriers is the ideal solution for the protection of a vast number of high-risk industrial applications, in particular those requiring a high level of integration of the Muting functions.
Safegate guarantees the perfect integration of all Muting sensors directly connected to the access control barrier.
Hardware configurable models (SM/SMO) allow configuration of the Muting logic and functional parameters via the main connector wiring.
Programmable models (SMP/SMPO) retain the same characteristics as the SM/SMO models, allowing further configuration of additional functional parameters via Safegate Configuration Software (SCS).
The most flexible Muting integrated barrier on the market today
Each barrier can be configured as L, TX and T4 via Master connection wiring.
Configuration can be changed at any time.
Sensors can be upgraded, added or removed anytime.
Each access control barrier can be used with Safegate integrated arms (pre-aligned and pre-configured), with M5 multibeam sensors or with any other Muting sensors.
Photocell and sensor mounting brackets available.
Programmable models allow further configuration options to address particular issues in more complicated application scenarios.
Models with integrated status lamp allow to easily recognize the status of the barrier.
Main Features
- Resolutions: 30, 40 mm – 2, 3 and 4 beams.
- Emitter / Receiver and Transreceiver versions (passive retro-reflector elements).
- Integration of the main safety functions, including self-testing of solid state outputs, external device monitoring (EDM) and Start/Restart interlock function.
Cross-section: 55 x 50 mm. - Protected height: 300 … 2200 mm.
- Protection rating: IP65 and IP67.
- Operating temperature: – 30 … +55 °C (without condensing).

- SM Models- Three different hardware configurations, selectable via different main connector wiring.
- L (one-way Muting with 2 crossed/parallel beams sensors).
- TX (two-way Muting with 2 crossed beams sensors).
- T4 (two-way Muting with 4 parallel beams sensors).
- SMO Models- Same as SM models, with integrated status and Muting lamp.
- SMP Models- Same as SM models, allows further parameters configuration via the SCS software.
- SMPO Models- Same as SMP models, with integrated status and Muting lamp.
Muting sensors
Two integrated Muting connectors (with four Muting inputs) in each access control barrier. When 4 sensors per side are utilized, the use of a Y-splitter is mandatory.
Muting arms with pre-wired and pre-aligned sensors for LX, L2, TX and T4 configurations.
Longer Muting arms for high-speed conveyors.
Support brackets and arms for Muting sensors (M5, photocells, etc.).
Partial Muting
The SMP and SMPO programmable models allows partial Muting function, hence the possibility of interdicting a number of beams in relation to the size and shape
of the pallet in order to prevent dangerous access when the light curtains is in Muting condition.
